- In the market there are two types of hand water hand hygiene products, one is ethanol-based and another is Isopropyl Alcohol based. Ethanol-based water-free hand hygiene product known as Hand Sanitizer. On the other hand, Isopropyl Alcohol is known as Hand Rub. Hand Rub is not for the naked hand. They are specially used to sanitize surgical gloves before the operation. That is why; we have used Ethanol instead of Isopropyl alcohol according to the recommendation of WHO. Isopropyl Alcohol is a toxic alcohol that causes skin irritation during repeated rubbing in the hand but Ethanol does not cause skin irritation.
